The past 2 weeks have been very frustrating for me !!! I took a couple of days off after the mother's day run and then did 2 days of bootcamp. I didn't think it was possible to get any sicker but I did and now I had to take all of last week off. :-( Along with the cold, I ended up with a flare up of arthritis in my right foot. It always turns into a vicious circle when I can't take my meds because I am sick and then I end up with a flare up. :-(
My cold is finally getting better after another round of antibiotics for a sinus infection, so hopefully after getting back on my meds this weekend my foot will get better.
My plan is to return to training on Tues. :-)
It's also going to be a busy week getting ready for the Treasure Island fundraising event on Saturday. We haven't sold as many tickets as we would have liked so if you or any of your friends want a fun night out, we really need your support. :-)
Myself and Heather (one of the other participants) did another interview with Global Morning News so we are hoping that will generate a few more ticket sales.
We have so many great items like a hockey stick used in the olympics and signed by the entire womens hockey team, a washer and dryer set, westjet tickets anywhere westjet flies and tons more.
Only 1 week to spread the word and get your tickets. :-) Thanks to everyone that has already purchased tickets, can't wait to see you at the event.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend !!
Affected by Arthritis personally, I have taken on a challenge of training and fundraising as a member of the "Joints in Motion" training team in support of the Arthritis Society. I look forward to completing a marathon in Lausanne Switzerland in October 2012. So please help me and my team raise funds and awareness for the Arthritis Society, a cause we are passionate about, for so many reasons.

Mother's Day 10km Run/Walk !
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms !!!! Today was the Mother's Day Run in Calgary. Wow there were like 3400 people in the race, it was a crazy amount of people !!! The morning started out with some rain and some snow to get us started. I was registered for the 10km, I haven't done a 10k since I walked the one last Oct so I thought it was going to be a whole lot easier this time around. Well I have been battling this nasty cold for almost 2 weeks so my 10k today was a pretty rough one. The last 2 or 3 k are somewhat of a blur as my head was a complete fog and I was really having a hard time breathing and seeing black spots. :-( I seriously don't remember crossing the finish line but my team mates assure me I did ... they insist on the fact that I crossed the finished line flashing everyone ... I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case..lol They did say I finished in about an hour and 33 minutes. My goal was an hour and half so I'm okay with what I did, being it was a struggle most of the way. My trainer's significant other was doing the run with me and I'm so glad she stuck with me the whole the time. Thanks Jo !!! Thank you to my trainer Kev, Jo and my team mates for taking care of me after the race when I needed to be taken to the first aid tent. I knew I was in trouble when I finally came back to reality and that's where I was. :-( Everyone there was awesome though and after about an hour and a half I was able to go home. After a very long hot shower to warm up cause I was absolutely freezing and an afternoon nap I don't feel too bad. Dam cold definietly got the best of me today. So now my trainer wants me to take a couple of days off and get some rest. I understand why but none the less it's very frustrating.
On the bright side, knowing I can finish in an hour and half sick, I can't wait to do a 10k when I'm feeling my best and can beat that time !!!
How ironic that it wasn't even my arthritis that caused me all the grief today at this race !!!
Only 3 weeks until our big fundraising event...very exciting !! We still need to sell some tickets so ask your family and friends to join you for an evening of fun and great prizes. (2 westjet tickets anywhere westjet flies). Thanks for your support !!! :-)

What a day !!!!
Today was a tough day for sure !!! I got hit with a nasty cold on Thursday and it's run me down pretty good. None the less I still worked out Thursday night and today I did my 5km City Run with hubby and his work team. I walked the first km with hubby and the kids and then did my run/walk for the rest of the 5km. Even though I could hardly breath cause my head and sinuses are completely stuffed up, I still managed to finish with my best time yet ! :-) I only wonder how much better I would have done had I felt better ... my new best time is 45.50. 3 minutes faster then the last race I did. Not huge but I'm happy everytime it gets better !
After the race I proceeded to our Saturday morning bootcamp with Kevin and the team. I wasn't sure I was going to make it through but I did. Totally couldn't focus on the exercises we were doing had to keep asking "what are we doing"...sorry Kev !!! Total head fog for sure.
I really need to kick this cold cause I am doing the 10km next sunday in the Mother's Day Run/Walk !!!
Have a good week everyone !!!
Cheers
